My latest findings!

I went to the St. Vincent de Paul's Speciality Auction (off Market Street) for the first time yesterday, and boy, was it fabulous! If you've never gone, you really should consider it. They have it about every 3 months or so (I'll post the date of the next auction as soon as I get it). It was a little confusing. They had 2 auctions going on at the same time - a seated auction (for dishes, jewelery, and misc.) and a standing auction (for furniture). They were going on at the same time, so it was a little distracting, at first. If you wanted to bid on something in both auctions, you had to bring somebody along. I was bidding on a pair of chairs (which I won!) in the standing auction. The auctioneer was conducting the auction in both English and Spanish. The auctions begin at 2 p.m. and the stop the auctions at 3:30 p.m. to start auctioning off the outside stuff (cars, outdoor patio furniture, bikes, etc.). When the outside auction is finished, then they continue the standing and seated auctions. Instead of starting with a low price and work up, here they start high and work down (if no bidders) and work back up (if bidders). And they also have a set amount for each item, which they won't go below. Items on which no one bids, are marked "Pass." You can buy these items the next day for this price, but you better be there early ( a lot of competition)! Keep checking back for further information on future auctions!!
I almost forgot - I got 2 of these Mission-Style rocking chairs (see picture) at the auction for $175 total! What a deal!
